Crave Sydney

Celebrating Sydney: Crave Sydney is a new annual celebration in Sydney, Australia, highlighting the city's arts, culture, food, and outdoor recreation.

Running from Oct. 1-31, the month-long event includes art exhibitions in the city's streets, laneways, public spaces and galleries; an international food festival, Australia's largest Latin American fest with free performances by top bands and dancers; Sydney Harbour Island Hopping on weekends from Oct. 3-25; and a Seven Bridges Walk on Oct. 25 -- a free community event with a 25-km route around Sydney Harbour and its seven key bridges. Check cravesydney.com or siff.com.au.

Money, money: Getting foreign currency before your trip is becoming easier since the opening of Thomas Cook's flagship foreign exchange store at 75 Eglinton Ave. E., (near Yonge St.). The service includes commission-free foreign currency exchange with more than 100 currencies available on demand or within 24 hours, in any denomination, with no purchase limit. The store has also just launched Canada's first four-currency ATM with instant availability of U.S. dollars, Euros, British pounds and Canadian dollars.

Additional stores, including one in Mississauga and another in Woodbridge, will open later this month.

"Until now, it could take up to seven days to get foreign currency and most times you'd have to go back twice because the currency was not in stock," says Kevin McAdam, director, financial services, Thomas Cook North America. "At our Toronto store, you can get foreign currencies and American Express travellers cheques, commission free, on demand or within 24 hours, with no minimum spend and no hidden charges."
